Dont go mad to start with, 12ft rod of 1 and a half pound test curve or more, a reel that can hold a decent amount of 10lb test line.

Landing net (36inch min) and unhooking mat.

A shoulder bag to stuff it all in and your away...........a selection of bubble floats, controllers......some normal type floats and split shot.

Hooks sizes 10, 8, 6........forcepts and your away.

Sweetcorn, dog biscuits, worms, bread as bait.

Then get out and learn a bit of watercraft...............all the bling bling tackle can come after a couple of years if you want to stay in the sport!!

Good books to get hold of include........Big water carp by Jim Gibbinson, read any articles by Gibbinson as well as he dont talk any bullshite to sell you stuff.

If you can get a copy, The Carp Strikes Back by Rod Hutchinson is a good book.

Last of all, DONT belive anything you read in the weekly magazines.

GOOD LUCK!
